How To Replace Spin Basket In Electrolux Front Load Washer

This Electrolux washer repair guide provides instructions on how to change the spin basket in a top-load washer. The spin basket is used to hold clothes in the wash cycle. If the basket becomes damaged near the attachment point to the hub and produces an ominous banging or a rubbing sound during spin cycles, replace it.

Think about replacing it if you notice that the basket is rusty in spots where it’s chipped, because corrosion can leave marks on clothing. If the spin basket is damaged or rusted, replace it using a manufacturer-approved replacement part. Turn off the power and water. Disconnect the power cord to the wall outlet. Lift the top panel

Cover the lid with tape to make sure it does not open and cause damage to the control console or hit your arms while working. Remove the top screws on the hinge brackets and the back of the Electrolux washer. The wire cover can be removed from the Electrolux washer by taking off the screw. Slide the top panel forward about half an inch, then raise the front of the panel about a quarter inch. Keep the panel slightly raised and then pull it back by a quarter inch to unhook the brackets. Remove the tub ring

Take the bottom of the tub ring to release it from the tabs for locking on the outside of the plastic washtub. Use an appropriate slot screwdriver. Pull the tub ring out of the Electrolux washer. To remove the impeller to remove it, place an slot screwdriver through the hole at the base of plastic cap. Then, pull the cap off the impeller. To pull out the bolt that connects the impeller to its drive motor shaft, make use of the wrench or socket. Grasp the impeller firmly and pull it out of the Electrolux washer.

Take the spin basket out from the tub for washing

The spanner wrench should be placed on top of the spanner nut so that the teeth of the wrench are in the notches in the nut. Reinstall the impeller by pushing the impeller downwards on top of the drive motor shaft until it is fully seated. Attach the bolt to the impeller and tighten it. Snap the cap back onto the top of the impeller. Install the tub ring again Set the tub rings on top of the exterior tub, and push it down. Then press down above the tabs to lock them so that the tabs are all snapped into the locked position.

 

Reinstall the top panel:

Then, carefully lower the top of the panel. Set the brackets in motion by pushing the panel about 1/4 inch until the panel drops and the brackets snap. To secure the panel to the frame, push the panel back about 1/4 inch. The lid of the washer should be taken off. The screws should be put back into the top of each of the hinges that are located at the rear of your console. Secure the screws. Put the tabs on left side of the cover into the slots. Line with the holes on the left side . insert the mounting screw. Attach the wire cover by tightening the mounting screw. Restore the water and power by turning on the water supply valves. Connect the washer to the outlet.

 

Restore the Electrolux washer in its original place

Calibrate the washer with the washer turned off, the basket empty (no water or clothes) and the lid shut go into the diagnostic mode by turning the control dial one complete 360 degrees (360 degrees) counterclockwise. Then, quickly (within approximately 6 seconds) change the control dial 3 times clockwise, one click counterclockwise and then one additional click clockwise. All green status lights blink when you successfully activate the diagnostic mode. If the lights don’t blink, make the control dial one complete turn counter-clockwise, to reset the control. Then try again, but this time turn the dial faster. Select the Calibration Cycle in the diagnostic mode by turning the control dial by four clicks clockwise.
